DGI ACADEMY – BOOKING NOW FOR 2024/2025

Based at the Diamond Golf headquarters in West Sussex and taught by master clubmaker Doug Holmes, DGI Academy is a state-of-the-art workshop facility and classroom, offering courses for all levels of club fitting, club making and repairs. Diamond Golf has been supporting the golf trade for 44 years offering education and expertise for golf professionals making a living out of club components and repairing golfers’ equipment.

Head of the DGI Academy, Doug Holmes says the curriculum of the courses reflects the experience of those attending. Doug said, “We offer very basic courses for those interested in Club Repairs and minor adjustments. These courses are designed to give a good grounding.”

The Art of Clubfitting course is designed for those who already have a basic knowledge of club fitting and who wish to develop their knowledge through practical application. In addition to learning the elements of club fitting, these courses also cover club making.

The Advanced Club Fitting course is aimed at those at an intermediate level. This course expands on the fundamentals of club fitting, introducing delegates to more advanced methods and techniques within the fields of profiling, matching and fitting.

Finally, the Complete Club Repairs course aims to provide each delegate with a thorough understanding of the equipment we use to play the game and of the modern tools used to carry out club repairs.

Each course carries PGA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, which go towards earning and maintaining golf qualifications as well as recognition of improvements in skills and knowledge.

As a Master Clubmaker with more than 25 years of experience, Doug encourages anyone within the golf industry to attend one of the DGI Academy courses.

“The feedback we get from our participants is overwhelmingly positive and many people have returned to take the next course. As with any industry things never stand still, and you need to keep up to date with new technology and advances in tools and equipment”.

    DGI ACADEMY ALUMNI TESTIMONIALS

‘The course was the best I have attended in my 30 years as a PGA Professional. The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic and approachable. There was a great mix of theoretical and practical elements to the course, and I would suggest it is an absolute must for anyone interested in custom fitting and/or club repairs.’

‘As a member of the technical team at the R & A, I’m required to regularly disassemble and build clubs to enable conformance testing. The DGI course taught me all the skills I needed and a lot more besides. The facilities were excellent, and the staff very friendly and very knowledgeable. This certainly was one of the best courses I’ve been on for a long time.’

‘The course was extremely well organised and the instruction clear and comprehensive. I came away from the course with a knowledge and confidence not only in the areas of custom hitting and club assembly, but also in all other aspects of club repair. In fact, I have now taken over the responsibility of all club repair and custom club assembly at our club. Another very important plus has been the great support I continue to get from all the Diamond Golf team.’

‘The training provided by Diamond Golf has proved invaluable. The golf club assembly skills learned are used daily in my role within the technical department of the R 8 A.’

‘A huge thank you to all the instructors present at the Advanced club fitting course. Thanks to the team at Diamond Golf, I now have a certificate and something to show for my efforts as a qualified club fitter and club builder.’
