Sir Nick takes time to entertain

Sir Nick Faldo entertained a specially invited audience with tales of his golf career at an exclusive evening hosted by luxury Swiss watch brand Jaermann & Stübi, held recently at Urban Golf, in Kensington. Guests learnt more about the limited-edition Jaermann & Stübi watches crafted from the golf clubs that Sir Nick used to win the 1997 Los Angeles Open (now the Northern Trust Open), his last tournament win as a professional golfer.

During a question-and-answer session hosted by Sky Sports presenter Sarah Stirk, Faldo explained how sales of the limited-edition Jaermann & Stübi Faldo Series 1 watch will contribute an impressive $72,000 to the development of the Faldo Series, a non-profit organisation he established in 1996 to help identify and nurture the next generation of golfers.

Appropriately, there are only 72 pieces of the limited edition Faldo Series 1 watch available, priced at £18,200 each. In addition to the historic and nostalgic significance, which would appeal to all golf fans, the watch also possesses some unique golfing functionality, patented by Jaermann & Stübi. These include mechanisms for recording the strokes per hole and per round, and the ability to compare scores against handicap. The sophisticated nature of the golf counter system can be compared to a mechanical chronograph with movement protected from impact by an in-built shock absorber.
